Haven't done any pony in a while, so I slapped together this very simple thing in thirty minutes or so. Might make a better one if I'm in the mood (i.e. never)

Okay, how exactly do you get the gem on correctly?

You simply place the gem on the indicated position? I'm not quite sure what problem you're having. Could you be a bit more specific?

nm, I got it

I ended up substituting it for a more firm gem cut out from a Kentucky Fried Scootaloo Chicken lid. Looks quite good

XD Glad you got it figured out! My papercrafts are meant to be printed on heavier-stock paper, so Xerox probably won't cut it. (pun intended)

Say, this is great, nopony will argue with that... But could you add tabs for more effective gluing, I think that would really help everypony out!

Wow, okay, only just noticed this thread now...over a month after it was originally posted. Sorry about that!

I really /should/ start doing tabs, shouldn't I? I did them for a bit, and then fell back into the old habit...I'm really sorry for not replying, and even sorrier for the inconvenience caused by the lack of tabs. If I do something simple enough for most builders to require tabs instead of fashioning their own, I'll definitely do tabs. Might even keep a post-it on my desk in case I forget again :P

Say, thanks so much for just READING my post. I am all too happy to provide additional tips.

If you so like, you could also do a couple more things to make your papercrafts easy, fun, and good looking!

For instance, you could make 2 versions of the papercraft: Lined and Lineless version. I have seen this quite a few times. Also, if you are concerned about how the finished papercraft looks, you could have teh tabs "Bleed" from the color closest to it, so even if there is a slight mistake, the color will not be so obvious.

Pleasae understand that I and your many loyal fans enjoy your papercrafts very much, and we can do nothing but encourage you.

Do consider these Ideas, and feel free to PM me. I can show you several examples of what I was talking about.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

given that this is the style he has been working with for all of his paper crafts, this will doubtless be very difficult, what say you, rocketman?

That's Great! Thank you for enduring us veteran papercrafters whining. Just remember that Tabs will reduce the overall size of future models.

It's quite easy to do, just print it out then cut it. I put it together with tape and glue.

Wow, seriously? :o That's great. :) Someone would definitely make those and wear it for the next Bronycon, and even more epic if it's a Trixie cosplayer against Twilight.
