Friendship Express papercraft by RocketmanTan Friendship Express papercraft by RocketmanTan

It appears you don't have PDF support in this web browser. Download PDF

Alright, here's my Christmas Pony model for you guys. I might consider doing the other train cars sometime later in the future, but for now, here's the train engine.

Apparently the google docs preview isn't working for some folks. If it isn't working, just click "download file" to get the model.

Very nice paper model. I've been planning out a LEGO model of this train and this will certainly help me in getting some of the dimensions right.

If you can find it, the actual Friendship Express toy is only $20, at least is was for me. My normal scale is "N" scale, so this would be TINY if I were to ever want to make one for my tracks.

I've been playing with making an HO scale operating model of that locomotive for some time now. This will help greatly is working on the design as well as a paper mock up on the frame. (although I had to elongate the boiler a bit as even the smallest of 4-4-0 locomotive wheel arrangements was too big to fit the boiler and cab atop. I also gave it outside cylinder and walsherts valve gear, which kinda clutters up the con rods and drive wheels, but those are small details.) wonderful work here, helped immensely!

Try doing it as a On30 piece, with the Stephenson valvegear (simpler outer details)

Be kinda a waste of $$$. On30 locos are expensive, and the drive train I'm using was from a $20 Atlas model from the 1990s.
