It would seem that the biggest problem my models have with most people is the absence of tabs on most of them.

The simplest explanation for that - which will not please many - is that personally, I've never liked them myself.  I've always fashioned my own tabs despite how they've been originally drawn, and I feel that many other modelers know what they're doing and what kinds of tabs they like.  Custom tabs allow the modeler to explore their own preferences and methods, and while I've never had any problems with pre-drawn tabs, the simple answer is that I'm partly lazy when it comes to drawing them on models.

However, it seems that more than enough people want tabs, although many are still okay with their absence - especially modelers on sites such as papermodelers.com and zealot.com.  So, I propose the following.  It would appear that those who want the tabs are those that build the more "mainstream" models - i.e. gravity falls, doctor who, and MLP.  So, for models such as those, I'll try to add tabs if I have the time and if I remember.  Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

I'll see what I can do; I've been meaning to finish the blob pony things when I've found the time, but I have some big exams coming up, and my body's slowly falling apart from neglect. Don't worry though, Fluttershy's definitely gonna be the next blob pony I do if I ever get around to it!

I have a question about what I can do to increase the durability of the papercrafts I make. While I understand that they are made out of paper and are therefor more fragile than, say, molded plastic, I am wondering if there is a way to keep them from being crunched by but the lightest touch, so that I may possibly cosplay, or at least have a little fun with them.

On the shotgun papercraft I made a little while ago, I found that having a coat of super glue helped it keep it's shape so that I could hold it, and putting some extra stuffing I had in the stock kept it from getting crushed. Though for a number of reasons, this won't work for ones I want to do in the future. Are there any methods for, say using a resin on either the inside or outside of the paper (normal printer paper is all I have right now) that will give it a nice hard shell? Or at least one that is stronger than the paper on its own?

Thanks!

Well, a lot of papercrafts are not designed for printer paper, first and foremost; cardstock should be fairly easy to find, either in the office or at a stationery shop. But if you can't find cardstock or don't have it for any reason, I would probably recommend placing some filler pieces in areas that could be compromised. Foam blocks actually make really great braces, since they can be recycled from discarded packaging. Just cut a rough block to your desired thickness and secure it in place within your model!

On the other hand, most models include braces and bulkheads for vulnerable pieces and areas. Personally, I believe that a good model design is not merely the "skin" of the subject, but actually has a defined structure and framework that gives it a nice, solid build, something which models designed in programs like Pepakura sorely lack.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
